Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

Review by Gill-Marie Stewart

Americans Isla and Josh attend the same posh boarding school in Paris. Isla has a crush on Josh but he never seems to notice her until, under the influence of too many pain meds following a tooth extraction, she approaches him during a holiday break. Can this be the beginning of a friendship? Maybe even something more?

This is a beautifully told romantic story set in NY and Paris. It isn’t remotely realistic but somehow you don’t care. It’s like being in a lovely dream, in fascinating settings with a great hero and a lovely (if occasionally annoying) heroine. A book to lose yourself in and come back up feeling more positive about life.

A definite 5 piranhas from me. Now I find this is the 3rd in a series and I need to go and check out the other two 🙂
