To celebrate the start of the holiday season, the Paisley Piranhas thought we’d each answer a short Christmas questionnaire, looking back on 2016 and forward to the new year. We’re kicking off with Piranha Pia and here are her replies:-
What was your top read of this year?
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (four book series – see my review here https://paisleypiranha.wordpress.com/2016/06/13/the-lunar-chronicles-by-marissa-meyer/ ). These books had everything I most enjoy – romance, adventure, gorgeous heroes, sassy heroines and fairy tale elements, plus they were fast-paced and different. Really enjoyed them!
Have you come across any new authors that you’d recommend?
Marissa Meyer, Maggie Stiefvater, Helen Maslin and Joanne Macgregor, but I’d also like to recommend Joss Stirling, whose books I had read before – she keeps writing brilliant ones.
Can your readers expect something new from you next year?
I’ve just started work on a new trilogy so I’m hoping to publish book one during spring/summer. We’ll see how the writing flows! It’s a fantasy series, which is a new departure for me, so I’m pretty excited about it. I hope readers will be too 🙂
Do you have a book-related New Year’s Resolution?
To try to make more time for writing, but also read more! There never seems to be enough time for everything …
What are you hoping to get in your Christmas stocking?
We don’t do stockings (I’m half Swedish so follow their traditions) but under the Christmas tree I’m hoping to find some noise-cancelling headphones (so I can listen to loud rock music without bothering the rest of the family), a Paperblanks diary, some awesome green and purple nail polish, a new SatNav, some DVDs and lots of books of course.
What’s your favourite Christmas food?
Swedish meatballs and brussels sprouts (not necessarily at the same time), and also rice porridge with sugar and cinnamon (another weird Swedish tradition).
In three words, tell us what Christmas means to you.
Family, peace, togetherness.
Happy Christmas and may 2017 be a great year for us all!
